CAVALIER AND WALHALLA ANNOUNCE COMPANY GROWTH

8/25/2004 - Tarnel USA announced plans to expand its operation in Walhalla, ND while Spinal Designs, Inc. and Vanguard Mfg., Inc. announced they will re-locate their manufacturing facilities to Cavalier, ND.

Tarnel USA manufactures flat deck trailers for shipment throughout the Canadian and U.S. markets. The company re-located to Walhalla from Winkler, Manitoba, Canada, in March 2004. The expansion will allow the company to add goose-neck trailers to its product line.

Located in a 25,000-square-foot facility, the company currently employs 24 people and has immediate plans to add six more. Peters said he expects to have 40 employees by the end of 2004.

Spinal Designs manufactures a piece of equipment used to treat lower back problems for patients. The company will move its manufacturing operations from Minneapolis, Minn., to Cavalier. Vanguard Mfg. has purchased the V-18 hovercraft product from Vanair Hovercraft of Kenora, Ontario, Canada, and will produce the hovercraft in Cavalier.

The V-18 hovercraft is a 35-foot, 18-passenger commercial hovercraft powered by a Cummins diesel engine. Worldwide production of the V-18 will move to Cavalier to enter the U.S. market as required by federal law.

Spinal Designs will employ 20-25 North Dakotans at $16-$22 per hour, plus benefits. Vanguard Mfg. will initially hire 32 people in Cavalier at wages ranging from $10.50-$12 per hour, plus benefits.
