LEGISLATIVE NOTES

Perhaps the biggest economic development issue before our legislators this year deals with the creation of a Department of Commerce. There is a proposal before our state's lawmakers that would merge four state agencies into one department. The possibility exists to merge Economic Development & Finance, Tourism, the Division of Community Services and the Workforce Development Council.

To review the text or status of this or any other economic development bill, select Legislative Bills below.

To review the testimony of Miles Friedman, President of the National Association of State Development Agencies (NASDA), on the proposal to create a North Dakota Department of Commerce (Senate Bill 2032), select either the Word or Powerpoint version of NASDA Testimony below.
